It is all too easy to let trash and junk pile up in your house. It can happen slowly over time until one day you wake up and wonder where all the space went. That’s not the only way you can be left with a pile of junk, however. Home improvements or the loss of a loved one can leave you with a pile of stuff that you need to get rid of quickly. Whether it’s garden waste, broken furniture, clothes, household appliances or anything else, no one wants to have waste lying around the house. Unfortunately, this can lead some people to dispose of their junk in bad and illegal ways. If you have junk that you don’t want, do not do the following with it under any circumstances.
Don’t dump your trash
This is the worst thing that anyone can do with their junk. It might seem like the easiest way to get rid of stuff, but by dumping trash in a field, on the side of the street or anywhere else for that matter, you are shirking your responsibility and flirting with the law. This is illegal and if you are caught you could be fined or worse. How would you feel if you woke up one morning and someone had dumped their trash on your front lawn? Exactly, so don’t do it to someone else. Even things that you think could be thrown away like garden waste or kitchen appliances need to be dealt with properly by the experts.
Don’t burn your trash
Second behind dumping, trying to burn your trash is a terrible and ineffective way to get rid of it. The vast majority of junk that we remove is inflammable. That means trying to make a bonfire out of it won’t work. Rather than stop, however, this can lead some people to use gas to get the fire going. Not only is this dangerous, but it is also incredibly bad for the environment and bad for your neighbors. The only exception to this is the burning of garden waste that is flammable. Even then you should take precaution and consider disposing of it in a different way.
“Give it away” for free
It is always a good idea to donate some of your trash to those less fortunate. Particularly so if it is things like clothes that can be used by someone else. However, some people’s idea of donating stuff is leaving it on the side of the street with a sign that tells people to take what they like. This isn’t donating your junk, it is dumping your junk. If you aren’t handing it over to someone at a donation center, you aren’t properly donating.
